Management Team
Richard Scardina, Chief Executive Officer, Director
Mr. Scardina is a proven health care services executive with experience in rapid growth and innovation in businesses including long-term care pharmacy, pharmacy benefit management, disease management, infusion therapy and specialty pharmacy. He has been a director of Millennium since October 2007 and chief executive officer beginning September 2008. Prior to that Mr. Scardina was a private investor and business consultant primarily to health care related organizations. From July 1989 until May 2006 he was employed by Caremark Rx and its predecessor companies, most recently as executive vice president of operations, and Baxter International. Before that, Mr. Scardina was an employee of Price Waterhouse for thirteen years. He was also previously chairman and an executive committee member of the Pharmacy Care Management Association, the trade association for the pharmacy benefit management industry.
Mr. Scardina earned a bachelor's of science degree in accounting with high honors from the University of Illinois and is a certified public accountant.
Philip J. Keough, IV, President and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Keough has over thirty years of innovative pharmacy experience, including positions in independent and hospital pharmacies. He transitioned into the retail pharmacy sector where he quickly rose through key areas of functional leadership responsibility including operations, technology, customer service, legal and regulatory compliance, clinical services and sales. He was promoted and led pharmacy operations at national pharmacy chains CVS and Rite Aid and successfully leveraged his experience to maximize sales and profitability for these premiere organizations. Prior to taking on the responsibilities for Millennium's operations, he most recently has led a very successful consulting practice specializing in the pharmacy industry and has worked with early stage companies to help them meet their strategic growth initiatives. Mr. Keough is a member of the Advisory Board for Auburn University's Harrison School of Pharmacy and serves on the Board of Directors for the United Methodist Home for Children. He also served as a non-commissioned officer in the US Army Reserve.
Mr. Keough holds a bachelor's of science degree in pharmacy from Auburn University.
George H. Hepburn III, EVP and Chief Financial and Administrative Officer
Mr. Hepburn brings over 25 years of financial executive leadership, pharmacy and other services experience with both Fortune 500 and microcap businesses. Prior to joining Millennium, he was chief financial officer of the Medicare Part D business for United Health Group. He is a former certified public accountant who started his career working for Ernst and Whinney, now Ernst and Young. Since then he has held progressive leadership roles at Heller International Group, Inc., Caremark Rx, Inc, Phigenics, LLC and APAC Customer Services, Inc.
Mr. Hepburn holds a master's in business administration from the University of Central Florida and a bachelor's of science degree in accounting from the University of Florida.
Lena Sturgeon, Executive Vice President, Products and Solutions Development
Ms. Sturgeon is an experienced health care industry professional. She joined the Millennium management team during the Company's organization and start-up phase and has played an integral role in leading the design and delivery of a market-ready, mission critical medication management system that meets all the demanding requirements for resident care in the long-term care industry. A registered nurse since 1984, she has progressed through a number of senior management positions in long-term care and related fields, including tenures including tenures in another institutional pharmacy, as a regional clinical director for a large nursing home chain, a director of nursing for a 120-bed nursing home, and a personal care home owner. Her experience represents a unique blend of clinical, pharmacy and long-term care facility perspectives and operating knowledge.
Stephen R. Duvall, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Mr. Duvall has 25 years of sales and sales management experience within a broad array of health care disciplines including long-term care, managed care, and pharmacy benefit management. Much of Mr. Duvall's time and attention focused on the development and deployment of managed pharmacy initiatives for corporate, union, health plan and government-sponsored programs and long-term care facilities. He is responsible for all sales and marketing strategies and programs at Millennium. Prior to joining Millennium, Mr. Duvall was senior vice president of sales for Coram, Inc., overseeing the company's national sales force and responsible for new business development and contract retention across Coram's various sales channels. Mr. Duvall came to Coram from NeighborCare, where he led the sales and account management teams and served as liaison to the LTCPA. Over his career, he has held a variety of sales and marketing executive positions in the health care industry.
John Tauber, Senior Vice President, Information Technology & CIO
Mr. Tauber has extensive experience using technology to drive efficiency, quality and revenue and achieving bottom line results in corporate, turnaround, and growth company environments. Most recently, he was the CIO for MedImpact Healthcare Systems with responsibility for delivering IT services for one of the nation's largest prescription benefits management (PBM) companies. Prior to MedImpact, he held CIO and senior IT leadership positions at Computer Horizons Corporation, Caremark, Adobe Systems, Deloitte & Touche, and Continental Bank. John graduated with dual bachelor's degrees in computer science and in mathematics and has served as an adjunct professor at the Lake Forest School of Management.
Gaile M. Omori, SPHR, Vice President, Human Resources
Ms. Omori brings more than twenty years of human resources experience to Millennium, including leadership at health care, financial, and private equity companies such as Evangelical Health Systems, GE Capital, Sears Holding Corporation, and Prospect Mortgage (a portfolio company of Sterling Partners). Ms. Omori has a proven track record of developing, planning, and overseeing human resources strategies and tactics that support the company's business plan and operating strategies. Her focus is on blending team building, change management, executive leadership, and verbal/written communication with strategic and tactical human resource operations to ensure the workforce is productive, satisfied, and delivers quality results.
Ms. Omori holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master's degree in industrial relations from Loyola University of Chicago.
